Pacific Life, a US insurer has selected Anthony Premer as senior vice president, real estate investments, effective from 1 January 2013.

Premer will take the place of Michael Robb who will be retiring at the end of the year after a successful 36 year career with Pacific Life, the underwriter said.

In 1993, Premer joined Pacific Life and most recently has been serving as senior vice president, real estate finance.

Acting with Pacific Life, he has participated in the origination of commercial real estate debt assets crossing more than $22bn; including real estate capital markets transactions exceeding $10bn.

As senior vice president of real estate investments, Premer will be accountable for managing the company's portfolio of real estate debt and equity investments that sums up to more than $28bn.

According to the insurer, Premer will report to Khanh Tran, Pacific Life's president.

Pacific Life chairman and CEO Jim Morris said the wealth of experience that Tony brings to his new role in managing Pacific Life's real estate investments will be a great asset to the company in the years to come.

"Tony's proven organizational skills and deep knowledge of the industry, as well as his ability to build relationships, make him ideally suited to this leadership role," Morris added.

Pacific Life offers a comprehensive bunch of life insurance products, annuities, and mutual funds, and offers a variety of investment products and services to individuals, businesses, and pension plans.
